The1st Tradition of AA states that our personal recovery depends on AA unity. In the spirit of our 1st Tradition, we seek to create an inclusive and welcoming meeting.

  • We acknowledge that there are members who do not wish to break their anonymity by displaying their video or name. You are welcome to turn your video off and change your display name.

  • If you desire to share but are unable to do so verbally, you are welcome to message one of the meeting hosts in the chat, who will read your share when you are called upon.

Let us open this meeting with a moment of silence, followed by the Serenity Prayer.

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”

2) Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues for fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; nor does it wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

This is an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are glad you are here, especially our newcomers. In keeping with the singleness of purpose and the Third Tradition, which states, “The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking,” We ask all who participate to share their experience, strength and hope as it pertains to alcoholism.

3) I have asked [SAY NAME] to read “How it Works”, taken from Chapter 5 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.
